Zysk, Professor of Indology, KU Mesopotamian Science in India: the case of physiognomy This talk focuses on the exchange of early scientific ideas via omens in Mesopotamian and in Indian antiquities. It proposes that ideas about physiognomy first appearing in Akkadian omen texts from the middle of the seventh century BCE were transmitted to India and show up first in vernacular literature from the 8th century CE.
